  5. The Basmark QuickBASIC Compiler is a multi-user IBM-PC BASICA, Microsoft
  6. QuickBASIC/PDS and Microsoft MBASIC compatible compiler designed to provide
  7. performance and consistency across a variety of computer architectures

  9. Language features include the use of real, separately compiled FUNCTION's and
  10. SUB's including those with global variables and shared, labelled COMMON blocks.
  11. Recursion, user-defined (TYPE AS) and 32-bit integer (LONG) data types are
  12. fully supported. Structured programming constructs including SELECT CASE and DO
  13. LOOP's completes major highlights

  15. Multi-user features include file sharing, with file and record locking,
  16. TERMCAP/TERMINFO screen handling, the ability to interactively call system
  17. commands (SHELL), a general purpose signaling facility (ON SIGNAL and SLEEP),
  18. inter-process communication (PIPE), the ability to call `C' routines and direct
  19. support for native floating point hardware including the Microsoft IEEE to MBF
  20. and MBF to IEEE conversion string functions

  22. Libraries to interface Basmark QuickBASIC to such industry standard packages as
  23. M-ISAM, C-ISAM and BTRIEVE are available.
